About Pete Delucia

Pete DeLucia, a longtime prosecutor and lifelong public servant with over 20 years of experience working in local courtrooms, has announced his candidacy for Broome County Court Judge in the 2026 election. The position was most recently held by the Honorable Joseph F. Cawley, who retired at the end of 2025.

“I’m running for Broome County Court Judge to bring my decades of experience to serve the residents of the Southern Tier,” said DeLucia. “County Court is one of the most important venues in the state as we handle highly sensitive criminal matters including murder, sexual assault, robbery and other violent crimes. It requires a judge with serious experience to deliver justice for victims and the accused.”

DeLucia currently serves as Principal Law Clerk to the presiding Broome County Court Judge, where he assists with jury trials, legal research and judicial decision-making. Previously, he worked for the New York State Attorney General’s Office, representing the State in complex civil litigation and serving in the Office of Special Investigation.

“During the years Pete DeLucia served as my Principal Law Clerk, I saw firsthand his exceptional legal judgment, work ethic, and commitment to fairness,” said former Broome County Court Judge Joseph F. Cawley. “Pete handled complex legal issues with integrity and professionalism. He has the experience, temperament, and character the people of Broome County deserve in their County Court Judge.”

Earlier in his career, Pete spent sixteen years in the Broome County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant and Senior Assistant District Attorney. He prosecuted a wide range of cases, including violent crime, drug offenses, and white-collar crime, argued appeals at every level of New York’s courts, and served as a Special Prosecutor in neighboring counties. His experience spans every stage of the criminal justice system.

DeLucia’s commitment to public service extends beyond the courtroom. He and his wife are former foster parents, an experience that deepened his dedication to protecting children and strengthening families. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Roger Kresge Foundation, is a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Sons of Italy, and Broome County Bar Association, and regularly mentors students through local mock trial programs.

“I’m excited to kick off this campaign and earn the support of every voter across Broome County ,” DeLucia said. “If elected as your next County Court Judge, I will work tirelessly to ensure impartiality, respect for the law and see that justice is served.”

DeLucia is a Republican, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Albany Law School, and lives in Endwell with his wife, Lori, and their two children.

The General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
